Model United Nations

Model United Nations offers students an opportunity to collaborate with their peers to find solutions to some of our world's most pressing issues. Each student represents a country of their choosing while serving on a committee of their choosing. After weeks of researching, writing, and practicing public speaking, students come together for a multi-day conference to put their knowledge and skills to the test.

This video provides highlights from the Model United Nations Conference held at High Tech Middle Chula Vista. Students from both seventh and eighth grade participated with over twenty-five countries represented across eight different committees!

Thanks to Ms. Nho, an 8th grade humanities teacher for putting this video together.

Below is a student's final Policy Paper and Resolution Proposal. Students spend time researching and writing the paper to depict the ongoing issue, the way it is affecting their country, and what others are doing about it. The resolution offers a creative and specific solution to the issue and is presented at the MUN Conference with the goal of obtaining support from other delegates to put the plan into motion. This policy paper is exemplary because of its thoughtful construction, successful integration of research, and specificity of the resolution.
